Enter Stella, an adorable Cairn Terrier. When Stella came in Instructor Kat melted. “I love terriers and Stella had the most amazing, hard terrier coat, we never get to see these coats because most pet parents opt for the more inexpensive method of using clippers on the coat. Stella was different, Colleen wanted her hand stripped!”

black_dogColleen Hatch was a patron of American Grooming Academy long before she ever became a student. After a big move from colorado, Colleen knew she had to find someone who could hand strip Stella. After calling many places she called AGA, and to her surprise were the only ones who knew how to hand strip. After making an appointment and bringing Stella in and Instructor Kat gushing all over her colleen knew she was in the right place. “Everyone was so friendly and really loved the animals.” We asked Colleen when was her Light bulb moment after years of bringing Stella to us that made her want to change careers. “I found that the best part of my day at my previous job( large home Improvement store) was when I would visit with the dogs, I just loved all the different breeds!

So Stella and Colleen Came to AGA. Stella would be a great muse and Colleen was an amazing student! Colleen knew she made the right choice one day when grooming her first standard poodle named Jubei- “I fell in LOVE!” When we asked Colleen what was the most difficult thing about being a student she commented that the ability to learn and juggle different breeds and multiple dogs was the hardest for her to learn. She wanted to spend a long time with all of them because she needed to learn and love that breed! She has since gone from patron to student to now a AGA graduate.

Our students and graduates mean the world to us, when they succeed we succeed! Thank you Colleen and Stella for making the decision to become an Advanced Professional Pet Stylist with AGA! We are so proud!
