May 2016 Academy News Story

image00May is a very important month in the pet loving world. There are many amazing things that happen this month and AGA isready with information for you as well as our students! May flowers are in bloom this month and pet awareness is a great way to get those summer months started! This month we are celebrating education at AGA, but not the grooming kind! The pet owner kind!

May is National Microchip Your Pet Month!

image04Pet microchipping is an extraordinary thing that all pet lovers should be a part of! At times when pets go missing, you can feel helpless in wondering where you start first. In the past, signs around your neighborhood and going to your local shelter to look through the pet’s present was your best plan of attack. Now with advances in pet recovery, you have more of a chance than ever at finding a lost family member! Also advances in community use of social media help in placing the locations where lost pets were last seen, bringing more awareness to those who are in a specific location!  Microchipping is easy, non evasive, and does not require anesthesia! It’s a simple as making an appointment with your veterinarian!

image02A hypodermic needle which is slightly larger than a vaccine needle, has a hollow core where a number and or lettered Microchip resides. The microchip is slightly smaller than a grain of rice. This chip is inserted under the skin between the shoulder blades of your pet. After the procedure is complete the microchip is scanned so that it can be accurately read by the corresponding scanner. If your pet becomes lost every shelter and vet in the country scans a pet first! The chip gives vital information about the owner of the pet, including name, address and emergency contacts. It can also give vital health information like diabetes or other health factors. Many communities, burrow, and townships require by law that pets are microchipped, especially in states where yard fencing is not the normal practice. The benefits of microchipping far outweigh the monetary uncomfortable feeling your pet gets when receiving the chip.  Come into AGA this month for a spa package and receive a gift certificate for Microchipping services At Butterfield Veterinarian Services in Temecula Ca!

Giving Back!

image01AGA participated in their first ever National K9 memorials day event in March this year, by celebrating the Riverside County Sheriff Department K9 unit! These elite dogs work all over the county helping our brave police officers do their job! AGA met the Temecula Dog Astin and his handler Corporal Staat who were gracious enough to come to the academy and educate our students.  AGA runs an add on spa special every month that includes extras for pet parents as well as free gifts.

image05These spa packages can be added to any groom or bath and change every month. For the month of March, we decided to donate all the proceeds to Riverside County Sheriff’s K9 Team. We included as a free gift our hometown hero “Astin’s” scorecard, which included his takedowns, and wins on searches! Our customers loved that their pooch was getting pampered but they also got to donate to a worthy cause! Astin just loved showing off!.Corpor Staat came to AGA to receive the check and brought the newest member of the team, an adorable Bloodhound called Copper!  AGA is proud to say that we raised a total of $1310.00!!! An outstanding achievement all because of our dedicated staff and students, as well as the amazing clients we have come to call family here in Temecula and the surround communities! To all our customers…..we couldn’t have done it without you and we are proud at the fact they we are teaching our students the amazing feeling of giving back to their community!
