“LOS ANGELES – Americans spent an all-time high of $55.7 billion on their pets in last year and spending will creep close to $60 billion this year, an industry spokesman said Thursday.
Pets across America live like little humans these days – and as long as people treat them that way, pet spending should keep climbing, said Bob Vetere, the president and CEO of the American Pet Products Association. Overall pet spending has not dipped since record-keeping started, according to APPA, based in Greenwich, Connecticut”
For pet stylist this means more money coming in-Pets do live like little humans in the American heart and so they are treated like such when it comes to spending money. Average pet styling costs start at around $65 for a small dog and move right up the scale. Thats not including fancy bling, advanced skills or therapeutic addons. Many of these pets rebook every 4 to 6 weeks, resulting in a lot of money being pumped into the pet styling industry.

Certified…Why Yes, I Am!
American Grooming Academy is licensed with the Bureau for Private Post-secondary Education. http://www.bppe.ca.gov/ This means that your theory work, hands on and curriculum is all approved by the State of California. With the many recent tragedies in grooming shops around the country, being certified is not something that will be voluntary for long. Texas and New Jersey already have documents going through their state Senate for the state licensing of pet stylist pertaining to the benefit of the pet and pet parent. Now that the Supreme Court has many animal abuse a felony in all 50 states, being certified is more important than ever. Our students will be ready when it comes time to license under the state, and until that time comes we will continue to educate our students to the highest degree!
