January 2014 Tips and Tricks!

Make New Year’s Resolutions for you and your pet!

The New Year’s Holiday is one of the best for choosing something better for you and the life of your pet. Here are some great New Year’s resolutions for you and your furry friend from American Grooming Academy!

Learn what foods keep you and your pet healthy! Understanding pet food and what is good and what is not takes time and research. Learn what your pet food has in it and what your specific pet needs. Understand that an active breed will need something than a senior and do your research accordingly. Stay away from foods that could hurt the health of your pet

Understand that exercise is not only for active breeds. All animals benefit from sunlight and exposure to play time. Even an senior pet could benefit from time outside or in a sunny window. Make a resolution to make sure your pet gets the outdoor or sunshine it needs to stay healthy!

PET…..literally petting your furry friend can reduce not only stress but is also proven to lower blood pressure! You will need this when those holiday bills come knocking! so make a resolution to “pet” your pet more and be healthier and happier!

Start something new for you and your pet! Pick a different trail, start a trail, start a play date, take your dog to a restaurant that allows pets! Socializing pets is one of the greatest ways to train and show responsible pet ownership!

Volunteer! Help those pets who do not have parents of their own. Donate time to a shelter, help with paper work, cleaning or folding towels. Don’t have the time? Donate money, blankets, dog food or toys! Helping other pets will ease some of the hardships of shelters, and it just plane feels good!

-Adopt! Adopt a homeless pet from a shelter! Shelter dogs not only need homes but sometimes they need loving people to help them with problems! Shelter dogs are some of the most loyal and loving dogs after being rescued! Come down to American Grooming Academy every Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and adopt a furever friend from Wag Again K9 Rescue!

-Grooming. Regular bathing and grooming is great for your pet. They get to go on an outing, which is great because many pets never get out of their own environment. They get to see their favorite groomer and get loved and hugged on. They also get stimulation thru the bathing and grooming process which is great for blood circulation and health. This month at American Grooming Academy you can bring your favorite friend in for our “After the Holiday’s” Tidy special. This once a year offer includes a bath, 15 min brush out, nail clipping and ear cleaning for a very low price. You can also add this months “Refresh and Renew” Spa Package.
